3.  தேஹத்தை விட்டேனோ ருஷி பத்நியைப் போலே

    வழக்கம் போல் கிருஷ்ணனும் பலராமனும் தன் நண்பர்களுடன் பசுக்களை மேய்க்க வனப்பகுதிக்குள் சென்றனர். பசுக்கள் பச்சைப்புற்க்களை உண்டு மகிழ கிருஷ்ணனும் பலராமனும் தன் நண்பர்களுடன் நேரம் போவது தெரியாமல் விளையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். அதிக நேரம் ஆடி ஓடி விளையாடியதால் சோர்வும் பயங்கர பசியும் இணைய, அனைவரும் அவரவர் கொண்டு வந்திருந்த உணவினை பரிமாறிக் கொண்ட பின் இளைப்பாற எண்ணினர். ஆனால் கொண்டு வந்த உணவோ அனைவரின் பசியாறும் அளவிற்கு இல்லாமல் போக, கிருஷ்ணனை உதவுமாறு வேண்டினர். பசியில் இருக்கும் கிருஷ்ணன், "நண்பர்களே! வனத்தில் ரிஷிகள் யாகம் ஒன்று நடத்துகின்றனர். அவர்களிடத்தில் சென்று கிருஷ்ணன் பசியுடன் உள்ளான். அவன் உண்ண உணவு தாருங்கள் என்று கூறுங்கள்."- என்று கூறி அனுப்பி வைத்தான். யாகம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த ரிஷிகள் கிருஷ்ணனின் நண்பர்கள் கூறிய வார்த்தையினை காதில் வாங்கிக் கொள்ளவில்லை. "யாகம் முடிய மாலை ஆகிவிடும். இறைவனுக்கு நைவேத்தியம் படைத்த பின்னரே மற்றவர்கள் உண்ணவேண்டும். அதுவரையில் காத்திருங்கள்"- என்று ரிஷிகள் கூறிவிட்டனர். பசியால் கலைத்திருந்தவர்கள் சோகத்துடன் கிருஷ்ணனிடம் நடந்ததைக் கூறினர்.

    சற்று யோசித்த கிருஷ்ணன் உடனே தன் நண்பர்களிடம், "ரிஷிகளின் குடிலுக்கு செல்லுங்கள். அங்கு ரிஷிகளின் மனைவியர் இருப்பார்கள். அவர்களிடம் சென்று நானும் பலராமனும் பசியுடன் இருப்பதாகவும் அவர்களிடம் இருந்து உணவு வாங்கிவருமாறு கூறியதாகவும் கூறுங்கள்.", என்றான். அவர்களும் சென்று கிருஷ்ணன் கூறியவாறு செய்தனர். யாதவ சிறுவர்கள் கூறியதைக் கேட்டதும் ரிஷிகளின் மனைவியருக்கோ எல்லையில்லா சந்தோஷம். "என்னது,கிருஷ்ணன் இங்கு உள்ளனா? எங்களிடம் இருந்து உணவு கேட்டனா?",என்று ஆனந்தத்தில் தன்னை மறந்தனர். மேலும், "கிருஷ்ணனும் பலராமனும் பசியுடன் உள்ளனரா??", என்று பதைபதைத்தனர். தாங்கள் சமைத்து வைத்திருந்த உணவு அனைத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு கிருஷ்ணனிடம் சென்றனர். கிருஷ்ணன்,பலராமன் மற்றும் அவர்களின் நண்பர்களுக்கு அவர்களே பரிமாறினார்கள். அனைவரும் நன்றாக ரசித்து ருசித்து உண்டனர். கிருஷ்ணன், தாங்கள் சமைத்த உணவை ரசித்து ருசித்து உண்டதைக் கண்டு ரிஷிகளின் மனைவியர் தன்னிலை மறந்து ரசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

    அனைவரும் உண்டு முடித்ததும் கிருஷ்ணன் அவர்களிடம்- "அனைவரும் உங்கள் இல்லத்திற்கு செல்லுங்கள். ரிஷிகளின் யாகத்தினை நிறைவு செய்ய உதவி புரியுங்கள். தாங்கள் எங்களுக்கு உணவு வழங்கியதை எண்ணி பயம் கொள்ளத் தேவையில்லை. அவர்கள் உங்களை ஏதும் கூறமாட்டார்கள்."- என்றான், அவர்களின் மனம் படித்தவனாய். ரிஷிகள் யாகத்தினை முடித்து இறைவனுக்கு நைவேத்தியம் படைக்க உணவு கேட்டபொழுது, மனைவிமார்கள் நடந்ததைக் கூறினார். ரிஷிகளும் அவர்களை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டனர். ஆனால், ஒரு முனிவர் மட்டும் கோபங்கொண்டு தன் மனைவியினை ஏற்க மறுத்தார். அவரின் மனைவி மன்றாடியும் மற்ற ரிஷிகள் கூறியும் கூட அவர் தன் கருத்தில் இருந்து மாறுபடாமல் இருந்தார். உடனே ரிஷியின் மனைவி, "நான் செய்த கர்மத்தின் விளைவாய் தான் இந்த தேகத்தினைப் பெற்றுள்ளேன். அதன் விளைவாகவே உங்களுக்கு நான் மனைவி. கிருஷ்ணனுக்கு சேவகம் புரிந்ததை தவறு என்று நீங்கள் உரைக்கக் காரணம் நான் உங்கள் மனைவி என்பதால் தானே. இத்தேகத்தின் மீது உங்களுக்குள்ள உரிமையினால் தானே. அப்படி ஒரு உடல் எனக்கு வேண்டாம்.", என்று கூறி, கிருஷ்ணனை மனதில் எண்ணிக் கொண்டு உயிர் துறந்தாள். பரமாத்மாவை சேர்ந்தாள். தன் மனைவியின் பக்தியினையும் கிருஷ்ணனையும் புரிந்து கொள்ளாமல் தவறு புரிந்து விட்டோமே என்று தன் தவறை உணர்ந்து ரிஷி கிருஷ்ணனிடம் சரணடைந்தான்.

    

  "ரிஷியின் மனைவி எதைப்பற்றியும் சிந்திக்காமல் தன் மனதினை முழுவதுமாய் கிருஷ்ணனுக்கு கொடுத்துவிட்டு உயிர் துறந்தாளே! என்னால் அவ்வாறு செய்ய இயலுமா?", என்று திருகோளூர் அம்மாள் வினவுகிறார்.

3. Degaththai vittaeno Rishi pathiniyaip  polae

Like every other day, Krishna, along with his brother Balram and Yadava friends, took their cows into the forest for grazing. Letting the cows do their business of grazing, the kids has fun playing around and hanging around trees. By noon, they rested under a tree and shared the food that they had brought from their home. Realizing that they are still hungry, the kids asked Krishna to help them.

Looking at his friends, Krishna said – “Near by, I can hear the chants of sages. Looks like the saints are preparing for Yaga. There will be food, for sure. Go and tell them "Krishna is nearby and He is hungry and is asking for food from them."

When the hungry friends went and asked the sages, they ignoring the words and hunger, the sages replied – “Only after the Yaga, the food will be served to the God. After that only food will be served for all. So wait till that.” The kids returned to Krishna with empty hands and sad face and narrated everything to Krishna.

Hearing that, Krishna told them - "Go to the wives of the rishis and tell them that Krishna and Balram are hungry and are asking for food from them."

Hoping for a victory this time, the kids went to the ladies and repeated Krishna’s words. On hearing the words of the kids, the concerned ladies came rushing to them with all the food they have prepared. They served their food to Krishna, Balram and his friends and were pleasured looking at the way Krishna and Balram are enjoying eating their food!

Pleased after eating all the food, Krishna said-"Please go back to your husband. Do not be afraid. Tell them the truth. I will take care of everything."

The women then went back and when the rishis asked them for food, at the end of the Yaga, they said the truth and their husbands took them back. However, one refused to take his wife back. Even after her repeated explanations and pleadings and also those from the sages, he strictly refused to take her back.

“I have this body as a result of my karma and I’m married to you because of the same. If you are blind enough to think that this body is yours and that’s why you can stop me from serving food to Krishna, then I don’t need this body that stops me from reaching the Supreme Soul.”- Saying so and thinking of only Krishna in her mind, she gave up her body. The sage then realized his mistake and surrendered to Krishna.

Thirukkolur Ammal is asking "Am I capable of being like the rishi's wife who gave her heart wholly to Krishna and gave up her body?!?"

2. அகமொழித்து விட்டேனோ விதுரரைப் போலே

         

             மகாபாரத யுத்தம் நடக்காமல் இருக்க விரும்பிய பாண்டவர்களின் எண்ணம் அறிந்து கிருஷ்ணன் அமைதி தூதுவனாக ஹஸ்தினாபூர் சென்றார். திருதராட்டிரனின் அரண்மனை ஆடம்பரமும், வலிமையும், செல்வமும் நிறைந்தது. இரவுப் பொழுதை அங்கே கழிக்குமாறு வேண்டிய மன்னனின் வேண்டுதலை மரியாதையுடன் மறுத்த கண்ணன், தங்கத்தில் செய்த படுக்கையும், இருக்கைகளும், நிறைந்த துரியோதனனின் மாடமாளிகையை போகிற போக்கில் பார்வையாலே மறுத்து விட்டு, அனைவரும் எண்ணியது போல் பிதாமஹா பீஷ்மரின் எளிய ஆனால் மற்ற இரு மாளிகைகளையும் விட மிகவும் பெரிதான மாளிகையையும் கூட மரியாதையுடன் மறுத்துவிட்டு அமைதியும் எளிமையும் நிம்மதியும் தரக்கூடிய விதுரரின் பவனத்தில் தங்க முடிவு செய்கிறான். துவாரகை மாளிகை, இந்திரப்பிரஸ்தம் அரண்மனை, ஈர் ஐம்பது புதல்வர்களைக் கொண்ட திருதிராஷ்டிரன் வசிக்கும் ஹஸ்தினாபுரத்தின் அரண்மனையினைக் காட்டிலும் விதுரரின் பவனம் சிறியதே. ஆனாலும் கிருஷ்ணன் விதுரருடன் அவர் பவனத்தில்,அவர் உபசரிப்பில் இருக்கவே விரும்பினார்.

                காரணம்? மன்னனும் மற்றவர்களும், ஏன், பிதாமஹா பீஷ்மரே கூட, "கண்ணா! என் மாளிகை பெரிது. வசதிகள் நிறைந்தது. என் மாளிகையில் சுகத்திற்கு பஞ்சமில்லை.", "என் அரண்மனையில் தங்கு.", "என் மாடமாளிகையில் தங்கு.", "என் தங்க அறையில் தங்க படுக்கையில் இரவுப்பொழுது உறங்கு."- என்று கூறினார்கள், ஆனால், விதுரரோ - "கண்ணா! இது உன் பவனம். உன் இல்லம். உன் உள்ளம் விரும்பும் வண்ணம் தங்கிக்கொள்." - என்றார். அகங்காரம் இல்லாமல் அகத்தில் தங்குமாறு வேண்டினாரே! அதை மட்டும்தானே கண்ணன் எதிர் பார்த்தான்!! கண்ணன் அளந்தது மாளிகையை அல்லவே, மனதை அல்லவா!! கிருஷ்ணன் சுயநலமற்ற விதுரரின் அன்பிற்கு அடங்கி அவரின் உபசரிப்பை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார். அளவில்லா அன்பினாலும் ஆனந்தத்தாலும் தன்னையே மறந்து விதுரர் பழத்தின் தோலினைக் கொடுத்த போதும் புன் முறுவலுடன் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டாரே!! "மனதில் அன்புடன் எதையும் எதிர்ப் பார்க்காமல் எதை கொடுத்தாலும் அவர்களின் உள்ளத்தில் நான் நிரந்தரமாக குடியேறுவேன்."- என்று கூறியது போல் விதுரரின் அகத்தில் குடியேறினான் கண்ணன். (அகம் = உள்ளம், அகம் = பவனம், இல்லம், அஹம் = அகங்காரம்)

"என்னால் விதுரரைப் போல் தன்னிலை மறந்த அன்பினையும் மதிப்பையும் கிருஷ்ணனின் மீது வைக்க முடியுமா? எதையும் சிந்திக்காமல் விதுரரைப் போல் என் அகத்தை கிருஷ்ணனுக்கு கொடுக்க முடியுமோ?"- என்று வினவுகிறார் திருகோளூர் அம்மாள்.

2. Agamozhiththu vitteno vidhuraraip polae

To prevent the epic war, Krishna went as the messenger of the Pandavas to the Kauravas. Arriving in Hastinapur by evening, Krishna was asked to stay in Hastinapur and have some rest and peaceful sleep, before doing the peace talks in the morning in the court. Respectfully denying the offer from the King to stay in his palace or even in his guest house, and not even showing the slightest interest in staying in Duryodhana’s golden palace and surprising everyone, in courteously denying Pithamaha Bheeshma’s request to stay in his palace which is bigger than the palace of Hastinapur, Krishna decided to stay in the comfy abode of Vidhura.

Vidhura was the brother and advisor for King Dridharashtra. Though he is a brother of the King, an advisor to the King and Minister in the court of Hastinapur, the wise Vidhura resided in a simple but comfortable abode. When the King and Duryodhana invited Krishna to stay in their palace, they invited with attitude – “Krishna, stay in my palace.”, “Krishna my golden palace has got golden bed and golden utensils, stay with grandness.”. Even the mighty Pithamaha Bhishma requested Krishna, by saying -“Krishna, my palace is the biggest in Hastinapur. Stay in mine!”. But, when Krishna stopped in front of Vidhura and looked at him, Vidhura spoke with respect – “Krishna, it’s your abode. Your palace. Just like the one you have in Dwaraka. Make yourself home and stay comfortably. Me, as your servant, will serve you, with all my heart!” Vidhura entertained Krishna to the best of his abilities and expressed his pure love, devotion and gratitude for Krishna.

The very reason Krishna chose Vidhura’s abode is not because of the comfort in the rooms and palace but for the comfort in the hearts! While everyone was being immodest about their wealth and luxury, Vidhura was fully aware that Krishna is the supreme and everything in this world belongs to him, including his soul!

1. அழைத்து வருகிறேன் என்றேனோ அக்ரூரரைப் போலே

            கோகுலத்தில் கிருஷ்ணன் லீலைகள் பல புரிந்து, நண்பர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து வெண்ணை எல்லாவற்றையும் திருடி உண்டு மகிழ்ந்து, தன் அண்ணன் பலராமனுடன் இணைந்து மாடுகளை மேய்த்துக்கொண்டு, கோபியருடன் ஆடிப்பாடி மகிழ்ந்து, கோகுலத்தில் வசிப்போரை தன் அழகு பாவனைகளால் மகிழ்வித்து, இடை இடையே கம்சனால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட அசுரர்களை வதம் செய்து, கோகுலத்தின் மன்னனாய் வாழ்ந்து வந்தான். தன் அனைத்து முயற்சிகளும் தோல்வியில் முடிய, கோபம் கொண்ட கம்சன் மதுராவிற்கு அவர்களை அழைத்து அவர்களை கொல்வதற்கு திட்டம் தீட்டினான். மதுராவிற்கு கிருஷ்ணனையும் பலராமனையும் வரவழைத்து விட்டால் தனது பட்டத்து யானையினைக் கொண்டோ அல்லது பட்டத்து மல்யுத்த வீரர்களான சநுரன் மற்றும் முஷ்டிகன் கொண்டோ அவர்களை கொன்று விடலாம் என்பதே அவன் திட்டம். அதற்காக, மதுராவில் தனுர் யாகம் நடத்த ஏற்பாடு செய்தான். அவ்விழாவிற்கு நந்தகோபன் குமாரர்களை அழைக்கும் நோக்கத்துடன், தன் மந்திரியான அக்ரூரரை அனுப்பி வைத்தான்.

            அக்ரூரர், ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ணரின் தந்தையான வசுதேவரின் சகோதரர். மகாபாரதத்தில் பீஷ்மாச்சாரியார் திருதராஷ்டிரனுடன் இருந்த அதே நிலை அக்ரூரரின் நிலை கம்சனுடன். கிருஷ்ணனின் லீலைகளை நன்கு அறிந்தவர். கிருஷ்ணன் தான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன், கம்சனை வதம் செய்ய பிறந்தவன் என்பதையும் அறிந்தவர். கிருஷ்ணன் பால் அதீத அன்பும் மாறா பக்தியும் கொண்டவர். எனவே கம்சனின் திட்டம் நிறைவேறப் போவதில்லை என்பதும் மேலும் இதுவே கம்சனின் இறுதி திட்டம், இதில் கம்சன் மடிவான் என்பதும் அவருக்கு தெரியும். அனைத்தும் அறிந்திருந்தும் கம்சன் கூறியவுடன், மறுப்பேதும் கூறாமல், "இதோ புறப்படுகிறேன்!! இப்பொழுதே அழைத்து வருகிறேன்!!!" என்று கிருஷ்ணனை விழாவிற்கு அழைக்கச் சென்றார். காரணம்? கண்ணனின் மீதுள்ள மாறா நம்பிக்கை மட்டுமல்ல, கண்ணன் மீதுள்ள தீராக் காதலும் தான். இதன் பயனாக அவர் கிருஷ்ணனுடன், அவனருகில் இருக்கும் பேறினைப் பெறுவார் அல்லவா!! குறும்பு கண்ணனின் சேட்டைகளை காதால் கேட்டு மட்டுமே இதுவரை ரசித்தவர், இப்பொழுது நேரில் சென்று அவனை, அவன் அழகுகளை, அவன் அன்பை, அவன் சிரிப்பை கண்ணாரக் கண்டு ரசிக்கலாம் அல்லவா!! கோகுலம் செல்லும் வழி முழுவதும் கிருஷ்ணனின் லீலைகள் பற்றியும் அவனுடன் இருக்கப் போகும் கிடைப்பதற்கரிதான நொடிகளைப் பற்றியும் எண்ணிக்கொண்டே சென்றார். கோகுலம் சென்று நந்தகோபன் மற்றும் யசோதையின் ஆசியுடன் கிருஷ்ணனையும் பலராமரையும் மதுரா அழைத்து வந்தார். வழி நெடுக நொடி கூட இமைக்காமல் கண்ணனை கண்கள் குளிர குளிரக் கண்டு ரசித்தார், மனதில் ஆனந்தம்கொண்டார். இதனால்,கிருஷ்ணன் அருகில் இருக்கும் பேரும், அவன் கடாட்ஷமும் பெற்றார்.

            "அக்ரூரர் போல்  மாறா பக்தியும் அளவில்லா அன்பும் நம்பிக்கையும் கொண்டு எந்நேரமும் அந்த கிருஷ்ணனை மட்டுமே நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேனா?", என்று வினவுகிறார் திருகோளூர் அம்மாள்.

1. Azhaiththu varugiren enraeno akruraraip pole

Kamsa had tried several times and failed in killing the kid, Sri Krishna while he was growing up in Gokulam. While Krishna was having fun and enjoying his life in Gokulam like no other kid in the world, Kamsa’s rage and pain of repeated defeats grew in his heart. Knowing that it is going to be tough to kill Krishna in Gokulam he decided to get Him and Sri Balarama to Mathura and kill them there.

In order to execute his plan, he ordered for a yaga to be conducted in Mathura and sent an invitation to them both through Sri Akrura, who was a Yadava and a brother of Vasudeva. Even after knowing that Krishna has been slaying all the demons sent by him, right from when he was a toddler, the great-minded Kamsa believed in  his new plan: To kill them through his royal elephant (Kuvalayapeeda) or through his royal wrestlers (Chanura and Mushtika).

The wise Akrura had great love for Krishna and knew that He was none other than Sriman Narayana and that Krishna will slay Kamsa in Mathura. Delighting his life so far by listening only to the stories of Krishna and his leelas while being truthful to his official duties towards Kamsa, the moment his King Kamsa informed him to invite Krishna and Balram in person, seeing that he has got a chance to meet his Krishna, for the first time, without any second thoughts to save his King, he agreed to the offer the next moment and immediately prepared his chariot to pick up Krishna and Balram without wasting any moment.

Longing and wishing only to see Krishna, enjoy the beauty and bliss of Krishna in his very own eyes and to cherish every single moment he gets to see him, listen to his words even if Krishna is speaking with others and not to him and most of all, to be with him, Akrura left the palace with a delighted heart, just like Krishna longing for butter!

All through his way to Gokulam, all that he thought was only about Krishna and about his time with Krishna. He then met Krishna and Balram and brought them back to Mathura in his chariot. All through his way back to Mathura, he had his eyes, heart and senses fixed one and only on Krishna!!!

     திருக்கோளூர் பெண்பிள்ளாய் ரகசியம் அல்லது திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள் வார்த்தைகள், இராமானுஜர் அவர்கள் திருக்கோளூர் சென்ற போது நிகழ்ந்தது. ஒரு நாள், ஸ்வாமி இராமானுஜர் அவர்கள் திவ்ய ஷேத்ரமான திருக்கோளூர் சென்றார். திருக்கோளூர் உள்ளே நுழையும் தருவாயில் ஒரு பெண்பிள்ளை அவரை அணுகி வணங்கி நின்றாள்.

       ஸ்வாமி இராமானுஜர் அப்பெண்ணிடம்,"யாரம்மா நீ? எங்கிருந்து வருகிறாய்?" என்று வினவ, அப்பெண் தான் திருக்கோளூரை விட்டு செல்வதாய் கூறினாள். அதிர்ந்த இராமானுஜர், "திண்ணம் என் இளமான் புகுமூர்திருக்கோளூரே!" என்று ஆழ்வார்களால் போற்றப்படும் ஊர். அப்படி பெருமை வாய்ந்த ஊரை விட்டு எத்தகைய எண்ணம் கொண்டு நீர் வெளியேறுகிறாய்?" என்று வினவ, அதற்கு அப்பெண் 81 காரணங்களை கூறினாள். அக்கூற்றே "திருகோளூர் அம்மாள் வார்த்தைகள்". 

     "அடியேன் அவர்களைப் போல் ஞானமும் அன்பும் பக்தியும் கொண்டிருந்தேன் என்றால் நானும் இவ்வூரில் தங்கலாம். ஆனால் அவர்களைப் போல் ஞானம் கொன்டவள் இல்லை. அழகிய மரமாகும் திறன் இல்லா விதை வயலில் இருந்தால் என்ன பாலைவனத்தில் இருந்தால் என்ன? இரண்டும் அதற்கு ஒன்று தானே. அடியேன் கூறிய நற்காரியங்கள் ஏதும் செய்திராமல், எவ்வாறு நான் இந்த ஊரில் வசிப்பதற்குத் தகுதியானவளாக இருக்கமுடியும்? என்னுடைய இருப்பின் காரணமாக திருக்கோளூர் தன் புனிதத்தை இழந்துவிடக்கூடாது. அதனால்தான் நான் இந்த ஊரை விட்டு வெளியே செல்கிறேன். தங்கள் பாதம் திருக்கோளூரில் படும் என்றால் வைத்தமாநிதி பெருமாளுக்கும் மதுரக்கவி ஆழ்வார்க்கும் நடக்கும் விழாக்கள் அனைத்தும் சிறப்புற நடைபெறும். தாங்கள் அருள் புரிவீர்களாக.'' என்கிறாள்.

    பெண்களுக்கு கல்வியறிவு மறுக்கப்பட்ட காலகட்டத்தில், தாழ்ந்த குலம் என்று கருதப்பட்ட குலத்தில் பிறந்த அப்பெண்ணின் வார்த்தைகளில் மனம் நெகிழ்ந்து போன ஸ்வாமி இராமானுஜர், "ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவத்தின் முழு சரித்திரத்தையும், அதன் கொள்கைகளையும் என்பத்தி ஒன்று வரிகளில் அசாதாரணமாக விளக்கிய உன்னை விட இவ்வூரில் வாழ தகுதியானவர் எவர் இருக்க முடியும்?!" - என்று கூறி, அப்பெண்ணின் இல்லத்திற்கு எழுந்தருளினார்.  அப்பெண்ணும், பகவான் இராமானுஜரின் வேண்டுகோளுக்கிணங்கி  ( பகவான் இராமானுஜர் வெளியிடங்களில் உணவு உட்கொள்ளும் பழக்கம் இல்லாதவர். மேலும் எங்கும் கேட்டு உணவு உண்ணாதவர்.) உணவு பரிமார, சுவாமி இராமானுஜர் மனதார உண்டுவிட்டு, அப்பெண்ணிற்கு ஆசிகள் வழங்கிச் சென்றார்.

          This is one of an epic and classic work of Vaishnavism in Tamil, where a young lady from a very simple background summarized the principles of Vaishnavism in just 81 verses. Thirukolur, also called as Kuberasthalam, is a temple town located in the southern bank of Thamiraparani River in Tuticorin district.    

        Once Swami Ramanujar and his disciples were on their way to visit Sri Vaithamanidhi Permual Temple, in Thirukkolur. While entering the town’s outskirts, he noticed a curd selling women leaving the town with her belongings.

        Surprised on her behaviour, Swami asked her "From where are you coming?" She replied that she is a native of Thirukkolur and now, she is leaving the town, forever. Upon hearing it, stunned Sri Ramanujar said- "Sharing one person's cloth between seven people and eating anything, everyone tries to enter Thirukkolur, as mentioned by Azhvar:  “thiNNam en iLamAn pugum Ur thirukkOLUrE”. How could you leave such a place?"

Responding to Sri Ramanujar with respect, the lady laid the 81 reasons, (later called as “Thirukkolur Ammal Varththaigal”) stating that she has not performed a single one of those acts. “If I had the same knowledge as of those mentioned in the 81 statements, then I could stay in Thirukkolur. I do not possess such knowledge and also not capable of doing even a single such act of devotion. It proves that I am not fit to live here. Hence, I have decided to leave the place. By your visit to Thirukkolur, all the festivals of Sri Vaiththamanidhi Perumal and Madhurakavi Azhvar will happen in festive manner".

Amazed at the words of the lady, Sri Ramanujar was pleased and replied with delight – “You have abridged the ethics, the history and the sayings of Vaishanvism, in just 81 verses! Than everyone else, you are the only person who is fit to live in this place! He then visited the lady's home, asked her to cook a meal, ate it and blessed her. Later she became a disciple of Sri Ramanujar.
