அரக்கனுடன் பொருதேனோ பெரிய உடையாரைப் போலே

இங்கு “பெரிய உடையார்” என்று அழைக்கப்படுபவர், ஜடாயுவாகும். ஸ்ரீ இராமன், ஜடாயு மீது கொண்டுள்ள நன்மதிப்பும், தந்தைக்கு நிகராக ஜடாயுவை கண்டதுமே இதற்கு காரணம். ஜடாயு, இராமாயணத்தில் இடம் பெறும் ஒரு கருடன். சூரிய தேவனின் தேரோட்டியான அருணனின் மகன். ஜடாயுவும் அவரது அண்ணனுமான சம்பாதியும் தசரத சக்ரவர்த்தியின் நெருங்கிய நண்பர்கள்.

வனவாசத்தின் முதல் பத்து வருடங்கள் தண்டக வனத்தில் முனிவர்களுடன் தவ வாழ்க்கையை மேற்கொண்ட ஸ்ரீராமன் அதன் பின்னர், சீதாதேவி மற்றும் இலட்சுமணனுடன் அகத்தியரின் குடிலுக்கு சென்றார். அகத்தியரிடம் ஆயுதங்களை பெற்றுக்கொண்டு பஞ்சவடி நோக்கி தன் பயணத்தைத் தொடரும் பொழுது வழியில் ஜடாயுவை சந்தித்தனர்.

தன்னை யார் என்று வினவிய ஸ்ரீ இராமனிடம், ஜடாயு – “நான் அருணனின் புதல்வன். கழுகுகளுக்கெல்லாம் அரசன். சம்பாதியின் தம்பி. தசரத சக்ரவர்த்தியின் நண்பர்கள். இக்காட்டில் வசிப்பவன் நான். நீங்கள் பஞ்சவடியில் வாழும் வரை உங்களுக்கு வேண்டிய உதவிகளையும் வசதிகளையும் செய்து தருகிறேன். என்னுடன் வாருங்கள்.”, என்று கூறி, அவர்கள் குடில் அமைக்க அமைதியான, அழகான இடத்தையும் காட்டினார்.

“... அவர் திண்சிறை

விரியும் நீழலில் செல்ல விண்சென்றான்”

-       என்ற வரிகளின் வாயிலாக, கம்பர், ஜடாயுவின் பரந்த மனதையும், ஸ்ரீ இராமர், சீதாதேவி மற்றும் இலட்சுமணன் மீது அவர் கொண்டுள்ள அன்பையும் வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். அவ்வரிகளின் அர்த்தம் , பஞ்சவடி நோக்கி காட்டில்  நடந்து செல்லும் ஸ்ரீ ராமரையும், சீதாதேவியையும் இலட்சுமணனையும் வெயிலில் இருந்து பாதுகாக்க, தனது பெரிய அகண்ட சிறகுகளை குடைப் போல் விரித்தார் ஜடாயு.

சீதாப்பிராட்டியை இராவணன் கடத்திச் சென்ற போது, இராவணனின் தவறை சுட்டிக்காட்டி வாக்குவாதத்தில் ஈடுபட்டார் ஜடாயு. இராவணன் கேக்காமல் போக, இராவணனுடன் ஜடாயு மோதுகிறார். இராவணனின் தேரை உடைத்து சுக்குநூறாக்கி, அவனையும் தன் மொத்த பலம் கொண்டு தாக்குகிறார். இறுதியில் இராவணன் வாளுக்கு தன் ஒரு பக்க இறக்கையை இழந்து, ஜடாயு தரையில் விழுகிறார்.

ஸ்ரீ இராமன் மற்றும் இலட்சுமணனின் வருகைக்காக காத்திருந்தவர், அவர்கள் வந்ததும், நடந்தவற்றைக் கூறி, இராவணன் சீதையை கொண்டு போன தென்திசையை அடையாளம் காட்டிவிட்டு, ஸ்ரீ இராமருக்கு மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துவிட்டு உயிர் விடுகிறார்.

தனது தந்தையின் ஸ்தானத்தைக் கொடுத்து, ஜடாயுவை மதித்துப் போற்றிய ராமர், தன் அம்பினால் ஏழு புண்ணிய நதிகளையும் வரவழைத்து, ஒரு புஷ்கரணியை ஏற்படுத்தினார். தன் தந்தையாகவே ஜடாயுவை ஏற்று, தர்ப்பணம் முதலான ஈமக்கிரியைகளை புஷ்கரணியின் கரையிலேயே செய்தார். ஜடாயுவுக்கு மோக்க்ஷமும் கிடைத்தது.

திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், “ஜடாயுவைப் போல்  (பெரிய உடையார்) இராவணனுடன் போரிட்டு, பிராட்டிக்கும் பெருமாளுக்கும் உதவி புரிந்தேனா?” – என்று வினவுகிறார்.

Jatayu is referred as “Periya udaiyar”, here, by our acharyas, because of the great respect Lord Rama had for him. Jatayu is the youngest son of Aruna, the charioteer of Sun God, in Hinduism. Jatayu’s elder brother is Sampaati, who was an old friend of King Dhasaratha!  

During their exile, after staying in Dandaka forest for about 10 years, Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana left for sage Agastya's ashram. After receiving the blessings and weapons from Sage Agastya, they left for Panachavati. On their way, they meet an old vulture named Jatayu. When they asked who he is, the vulture replied "My name is Jatayu, Son of Aruna. I and my brother Sampaati are your father Dasaratha's friends. I am living in this forest and I will accompany you while you are here." Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Jatayu all went together to Panchavati.

Kambar explains the heart of Jatayu through his lines:

          …Avar thiṇsiṟai
viriyum nīzhalil sella viṇseṉṟāṉ

Meaning, as Lord Rama, Sita Piratti and Lakshmana were walking along the forest towards Panchavati, under the hot sun, Jatayu protected them by spreading his wings like an umbrella.

After they have built a hut in Panchavati, Jatayu stayed close to the ashram where Lord Rama was staying. Lord Rama told Lakshmana "We have been separated from our father. So, let's stay under the wings of Jatayu".

Later, when Ravana abducted Sita, Jatayu intercepted them. He tried to talk Ravana into giving up this bad idea and release Sita. When he did not listen, Jatayu began waging a great war with Ravana. He broke Ravana's chariot and attacked him fiercely. In the end, Ravana managed to cut Jatayu's wings and threw him to the ground. He then left with Sita to Lanka.

When Lord Rama and Lakshmana came looking for Sita, they saw Jatayu lying wounded on the ground. Jatayu told them what happened and consoled the distraught Lord Rama and reassured Him that no harm will come to Sita and that very soon she will be restored to them. Knowing that his end is near, Jatayu performed mangalashasana to Lord Rama by calling Him 'Ayushman' and then gave up his life.

Rama says that the grief of seeing Jatayu pass away is greater than the loss of Sita. He considered Jatayu as equal to His father and did the final rites for the bird. Lord Rama then slammed an arrow into the ground so as to call all seven sacred rivers to arrive at the very spot where he is and performed the last rites for Jatayu, so that he could attain moksha.

அந்தரங்கம் சொன்னேனோ த்ரிஜடையைப் போலே

அசோகவனத்தில் சீதாப்பிராட்டி இராவணனால் சிறை வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த பொழுது அவரின் காவலுக்கு இருக்கும் அசுரர்களின் தலைவியாய்  த்ரிஜடை என்னும் அசுர குல பெண்மணி இருந்தார். த்ரிஜடை, விபீஷணன் மகள் ஆவார். அசுர குலத்தில் பிறந்திருந்தாலும், த்ரிஜடை சீதாப்பிராட்டிக்கு உறுதுணையாய் இருந்தார். தந்தையைப் போல் நீதி நியாயத்தின் படி வாழ்ந்து வந்தார். மனமுடைந்து இருக்கும் சீதையை த்ரிஜடையே இராமனின் இலங்கை நோக்கிய பயணம் பற்றிக் கூறி தேற்றுவார்.

சீதை, த்ரிஜடையிடம் மிகுந்த அன்பு வைத்திருந்தார். அசோகவனத்தில் சம்பாஷித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த பொழுது, சீதை த்ரிஜடையை நோக்கி, “ஓ, த்ரிஜடை! புழுவானது இடைவிடாமல் வண்டை நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்பதால் அது வண்டாக மாறி விடும் என்று சொல்லப்படுவது உண்மையா? அப்படியென்றால் (ராமனை இடைவிடாமல் தியானிக்கும்) நான் ராமனாக மாறி விடுவேன்.எனது அன்புக்குரிய கணவரின் அன்பு இல்லாமல் தள்ளி தூர இருப்பதிலிருந்து விடுபட்டு விடுவேன், அல்லவா!!” என்றார்.

இதைக் கேட்ட த்ரிஜடை உடனே சீதையை நோக்கி, “அப்படி என்றால் அது நல்லதற்குத் தான்! ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் ராமர் ஆகி விடுவீர்கள். உங்களை இடைவிடாமல் நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் ராமர் சீதை ஆகி விடுவார்! நீங்கள் (ராமராக ஆகி விடுவதால்) எதிரியான ராவணனைக் கொன்று விடுவீர்கள். உடனே ராமருக்கு அருகில் சென்று விடுவீர்கள். (அவரவர் தம் தம் உருவை எடுத்துக் கொள்வீர்கள்!)”, என்றார்.

ஒரு நாள், காவலுக்கு வந்த  பிற அசுர குல பெண்கள் சீதையை கிண்டல் செய்த பொழுது, அங்கு வந்த த்ரிஜடை, அவர்களிடம் கோபமாக, "நேற்று இரவு நான் ஒரு கனவு கண்டேன். அதில் இராவணன் சிகப்பு நிற உடை அணிந்து கழுதை மீது அமர்ந்து தெற்கு நோக்கி பயணிக்க, வானில் இருந்து ஆயிரம் அன்னப்பறவைகள் கொண்ட தங்க பல்லக்கில், வெண்ணிற உடை அணிந்து, வெள்ளை நிற மலர் மாலை அணிந்து வந்து ஸ்ரீ இராமன் சீதையை அழைத்துச் சென்றார். என் கனவு நிச்சயம் நடக்கும். எனவே, நீங்கள் உயிருடன் வாழ விரும்பினால் இப்பொழுதே சீதையிடம் சரணடையுங்கள். ஸ்ரீ இராமன் இலங்கை வந்து சேரும் நேரம், அவரின் கோபத்தில் இருந்து உங்களை காப்பாற்றும் சக்தி, சீதாப்பிராட்டியிடம் மட்டுமே உள்ளது. எனவே உண்மை உணர்ந்து, இப்பொழுதே அவரிடம் சரணடையுங்கள்.", என்றார்.

ஸ்ரீ ராமனுக்கும் இராவணனுக்கும் இடையே போர் நடந்த போது, த்ரிஜடை, போரின் நிலவரங்களையும் ஸ்ரீ ராமனின் வெற்றிகள் குறித்த செய்திகளையும் அனுதினமும் கூறி சீதாப்பிராட்டிக்கு உதவிகள் புரிந்தார்.

   திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், "த்ரிஜடையைப் போல் பிராட்டிக்கு நான் ஏதும் உதவி புரிந்தேனா?", என்று வினவுகிறார்.

andharangam sonnEnO thrijadaiyaip pOlaE

Trijada was a servant of Ravana and one of the demons who he had ordered to guard Sita in the Asoka Vanam. Trijada is the daughter of Vibhishana. Like father, Trijada also follows the path of justice and also believes in Sri Rama.

After being prisoned in Ashoka Vanam, Trijada was the only soul who was there to comfort and give confidence to Sita. Sita too shares her feelings, her stories and thoughts to Trijada, just like how she would share it to her sisters and friends. Trijada too protects Sita from the ill-talks of other guards. One day, the other guards were teasing Sita and mocked her for her character and for not enjoying the life that King Ravana is ready to give! 

Unable to handle the harsh words and demands of the rakshasis, raged Trijada says, "I saw Ravana wearing a red dress and heading south while seated on a donkey. I also saw Rama wearing a white dress with white flowers and looking like Vishnu, fly in from the sky in a golden palanquin which is being pulled by a thousand beautifully flawless white swans and carry Sita around on an elephant. Therefore, Rama will definitely defeat Ravana and take Sita away. If you all wish to survive, it is better to surrender to Sita and beg her pardon. When Sri Rama reaches Sri Lanka, and he will, nothing can save you from the raged and furious heart of him, other than Sita’s words and one look. So, if you all wish to live a life, surrender to her, immediately."

Later, during the war between Rama and Ravana, she brought news of the many victories of Rama's army to Sita. When Indrajit made Rama and Lakshmana unconscious using his Nagastra, the rakshasas took Sita to the battlefield and claimed that they were dead. When Sita shed tears seeing them dead, Trijada consoled her by saying "Do not fear. Rama and Lakshmana have only fainted. They cannot be killed by the arrows of these rakshasas. There’s no arrow in this world that could kill them!"

Thus, Trijada helped Piratti in many ways.

7. தாய்க்கோலஞ் செய்தேனோ அநஸூயைப் போலே

           அநஸூயை அத்ரி மகாமுனிவரின் தர்ம பத்தினி. மும்மூர்த்திகளான பிரம்மா, விஷ்ணு, சிவன் ஆகிய மூவருக்கும் தாயாக மாறும் பெரும் பாக்கியம் பெற்றவர். உலகிலுள்ள உயிரினங்கள் மழையின்றித் தவித்தபோது, அநஸூயை கடும் தவம் புரிந்து, கங்கையை உலகிற்கு கொண்டு வந்தார்.  ஆலகந்த நதியின் துணை நதியாக, மந்தாகினி என்ற பெயருடன் இன்றும் மக்களின் வாழ்வாதாரமாய் அந்நதி ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

  சீதாதேவியுடனும், தம்பி லக்ஷ்மணனுடனும் வனவாசத்தை தொடங்கிய ஸ்ரீராமன், சித்திரக்கூடம் நீங்கி சென்ற போது, இரவுப் பொழுதை கழிக்க, மந்தாகினி நதிக்கரையில் அமைந்திருந்த முனிவர் அதிரி அவர்களின் குடிலை சேர்ந்தார். முனிவர் அதிரி, தனது துணைவியார் அநஸூயையுடன் வசித்து வந்தார். ஸ்ரீராமனை வரவேற்ற முனிவர் அதிரி, சீதாப் பிராட்டியை நோக்கி, "மகளே! அநஸூயை தர்மத்தின் வழி வாழ்ந்து வருபவள். ஒரு தர்மபத்தினியாவாள். ஒரு முறை இங்கு பஞ்சம் ஏற்பட்ட போது, அநஸூயை, தனது பக்தியால் காய்கறிகளையும் கிழங்கு வகைகளையும் முளைக்கச் செய்தாள். மேலும், புனிதமான கங்கையாற்றையும் வரவழைத்தாள். ஒரு முறை, தேவர்களின் நலன் கருதி, ஒரு தேவ இரவை பத்து இரவுகளாக மாற்றிக் கொடுத்தாள். அவளை உன் தாய்க்கு நிகராய் நினைத்துக்கொள். நீங்கள் இங்கு தங்கும் போது உனக்கு எக்குறையும் வராமல் உன்னை கருத்தாய் கவனித்துக்கொள்வாள்.", என்றார். ஸ்ரீராமனும் அதையே வழிமொழிந்தார்.

     அநஸூயை, அனைவரையும் நன்கு உபசரித்தார். உணவு பரிமாறினார். சீதாப் பிராட்டியும், அநஸூயைக்கு உதவி புரிந்து பணிவிடைகளும் செய்தார். சீதையும் தனது சிறு வயது கதைகளையும், அவரின் திருமணம் பற்றியும் அநஸூயையுடன் பகிர்ந்தார். அன்று அந்தி சாயும் நேரம், சீதையுடன் உரையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்த அநஸூயை, "மகளே! உன்னை நினைத்து பெருமை கொள்கிறேன். ரிஷிபத்தினி என்பதால், எனக்கு கணவரைப் பின்தொடரவேண்டியது தர்மம். மன்னின் மகளாக அரண்மனையில் வளர்ந்த உனக்கு அந்நிலை இல்லை. தசரத சக்கரவர்த்தியின் அன்பும் நன்மதிப்பையும் பெற்ற ஸ்ரீராமனின் துணைவி நீ! இராமன் நாடு திரும்பும் வரை நீ அரண்மனையில் சுகமாய் நாட்களை கடந்திருக்கலாம்! ஆனால், காட்டில் வசிப்பதால் வரும் இன்னல்களை பொருட்படுத்தாமல், "பிரிவினும் சுடுமோ பெருங்காடு" என்று காதலுடன் கூறி ஸ்ரீ இராமனின் நிழலாய் பின் தொடர துணிந்து வனவாசம் வந்துள்ளாயே! இச்சிறு வயதில், உனது பண்பினையும், ஸ்ரீராமன் மீது நீ கொண்ட காதலையும் கண்டு நெகிழ்கிறேன். உனக்கு அந்த இறைவன் எல்லா சந்தோஷத்தையும் வழங்க பிராத்திக்கிறேன்."- என்றார்.

         அநஸூயை சீதையை தன் மகளைப் போலவே பாவித்தார்! தன்னிடம் இருந்த சின்னச் சின்ன ஆபரணங்கள் அணிவித்தார்! மலர்கள் கொண்டு சீதாதேவியின் கூந்தலை அலங்கரித்தார். சீதாப் பிராட்டியும், தன் தாயை வணங்குவது போல்  அநஸூயையை பரிவுடன் வணங்கினார். அன்றிரவு அக்குடிலில் தங்கிவிட்டு, மறுநாள் மூவரும் வனவாசத்தினை தொடர்ந்தனர். அநஸூயை மற்றும் சீதாப் பிராட்டியின் அன்புரையாடல்களையும், ஒரு நாள் பொழுதே சந்தித்திருந்தாலும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பரிவன்புடன் கவனித்துக்கொள்வதையும் கண்டு ஸ்ரீராமன் பெருமிதம் கொண்டார்.

     திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், "எந்த ஒரு எதிர் பார்ப்பும் இல்லாமல் தாயாரிடம், ஒரு தாயைப் போல், அநஸூயை போல் அளவில்லா அன்பினையும் பரிவையும் காட்டினேனா?", என்று வினவுகிறார்.

THaaikolam seithaeno Anasuyayai poale     

         Anasuya is wife of the great Athri Maharishi. Than the powers of Maharishi Athri, Anasuya’s selfless acts respect for her husband satisfied the gods. She even once changed one night of Devalok into 10 nights, for the sake of saving the Devas! Even when the prayers of all the sages and Kings failed the sky to pour rain on earth, Anasuya’s prayers alone brought Ganga to earth and it’s still flowing on earth in the name of River Mandhagini, as a tributary to Alaknanda River.

Sri Rama, when he started for his Vanavasa along with Sita and Lakshmana, he spent some time at Chithrakoodam. It is here Bharatha tried to get Him to go back to Ayodhya. Fearing further requests and following of people and especially Bharatha, Rama left Chithrakoodam silently. After tiring and long day’s walk, they reached Sage Athri's ashram on the banks of River Mandhagini. Sri Rama decided to spend the night stay in the Ashram of Maharishi Athri.

Athri Maharishi introduced his wife Anasuya to Sita, saying - "Anasuya is a great pativrata. She follows the path of dharma. One time when there was a famine, she created vegetables and tubers and also made Ganges flow here. Pray to her like she is your mother. She will take good care of you during your stay here". Rama too said the same.

Anasuya was pleased by the behaviour and character of Sita and said- “Being wife of a sage, I am destined to follow him to live in the forests. But that’s not the same with you! Born as a princess in a Palace to a King and married to a King, as the Queen of Ayodha, you can stay in the Palace in comfort and live safe and secured. But, you chose to follow your husband! I appreciate you leaving all the palace pleasures and following your husband to the forest. It shows your love for him and your respect for him. May you gain all good things". Sita bowed to Anasuya with respect, just like how she would do to her mother.

Taking care of Sita like her own daughter, Anasuya decorated her with flowers and garments and listened to her full story. Rama was pleased by the affection showed by Anasuya to Sita.

4.  தசமுகனைச் செற்றேனோ பிராட்டியைப் போலே

        தசமுகன், இராவணன். பிராட்டி, சீதாதேவி. இங்கு, "செற்றேனோ" என்னும் சொல்லிற்கு "கொன்றேனோ" என்று பொருள். இராவணனை சீதை வதம் செய்யவில்லை. இங்கு, சீதை இராவணனை கொன்றார் என்றால், ராவணனின் ஆணவத்தை, பேராண்மையை கொன்றார் என்று பொருள். மிதிலையின் இளவரசி. ஸ்ரீ ராமனின் துணைவியாய், ஸ்ரீ ராமனின் நிழலாய் வாழ அயோத்தி வந்தவர். ஸ்ரீ இராமனை பிரிய மனமில்லாமல், பதினான்கு ஆண்டுகள் மலரினும் மென்மையான பாதத்துடன் வனத்தில் வாழ முடிவெடுத்தவர். இராவணனின் அஹம்பாவம், பேராண்மை, தலைக்கணம் நிறைந்த பார்வையும் மனமும் வனத்தில் எளிய வாழ்வு வாழ்ந்த சீதையின் மேல் பட்டு, அவன் அழிவிற்கு விதையிட்டது. மிதிலையின் இளவரசியாக இருந்தபோதே கொடியிடையாள் என்று வர்ணிக்கப்பட்ட சீதாப்பிராட்டியார், இலங்கையில் சிறையில் வாடியபோது இன்னும் மெலிந்தார் என்றால், அவரின் துயரத்தை எவ்வார்த்தைகள் கொண்டு விளக்குவது?

       சீதாதேவி எண்ணியிருந்தால் இராவணனை அவரே வதம் செய்திருக்கலாம். அவரின் கோபக்கனலே இராவணனை பஸ்பமாகிவிடும். பிராட்டியின் புனிதத்தன்மை ஒன்று போதுமே இலங்கையை கடலின் ஆழத்திற்கு தள்ள! தேவியும் அடுத்த நொடி ஸ்ரீஇராமனுடன் வனத்தில் இருந்திருப்பார். அனுமனின் வாலில் வைக்கப்பட்ட தீ அவரைச் சுடாமல் பார்த்துக்கொள்ளச் செய்த சீதைக்கு இலங்கையை அழிக்க எவ்வளவு நேரம் ஆகியிருக்கும்? சிறைப்பட்டு அனுதினமும் கஷ்டப்பட்டிருக்க வேண்டாம்.  சீதையின் ராமபக்தி ஒன்றே உலகை பஸ்பமாகிவிடும் வல்லமை வாய்ந்தது என்றால் இராவணன் எம்மாத்திரம்!?  ஆனால், அவர் அச்செயல் புரியவில்லை. சீதாதேவியார், அனைத்து இன்னல்களையும் பொறுத்துக் கொண்டு, இராமனின் வருகைக்காக காத்திருந்தார். அனுக்க்ஷனமும் ஸ்ரீ இராமபிரானயே எண்ணிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.

       இராவணனின் உண்மை நிலையினை அவனுக்கு எடுத்துரைத்தார். ஆணவத்தின் உச்சத்தில் யோசிக்காமல் தவறுகள் புரிந்து கொண்டிருந்த இராவணனை ஸ்ரீஇராமனுடன் போர் புரிந்து மடியாமல் அவரிடம் சரணடையுமாறு கூறினார். இராவணனையும், ஹனுமனே கண்டு வியந்த இராவணனின் அரண்மனையையும் சீதாப் பிராட்டி ஒடிந்த புல்லினைப் போல் மதித்தார். சீதாதேவியை மயக்க இராவணன் குபேரனுக்கு இணையான தன் சொத்துக்களைப் பற்றிக் கூறி ஆசை வார்த்தைகள் காட்டிய போதும் அவர் அதை தூசினைப் போல் துச்சமெனக் கண்டார்.   சித்திரவதைகளை அனுபவித்துக் கொண்டு அனுக்க்ஷனமும் ஸ்ரீ ராமனை மட்டுமே எண்ணி வாழ்வது கூட சுகம் என்றார். அவ்வாறே சிறைவாசத்தை கழித்தார். தன் ஆன்மாவும் உடலும் ஸ்ரீராமனின் உடைமை என்பதை மனதில் நிறுத்தி அவர் வருகைக்காகவே காத்திருந்தார்.

            எளிமையின் வடிவாய் நின்ற ஸ்ரீ இராமனின் முன் லங்காபுரியின் மன்னனான இராவணன் தோற்றான். சீதையின் மனம், சரணாகதிக்கு சிறந்த எடுத்துக்காட்டென்றால், சீதையின் மனதை வென்ற ஸ்ரீ இராமனின் பண்போ, இன்னலில் தவிக்கும் பக்தர்களை ரட்சிக்க துடிக்கும் கடவுளின் குணம். இறையன்பு.

       திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், "என்னால் பிராட்டியைப் போல் அனைத்தையும் அவன் பொறுப்பில் விட்டு விட்டு, அவனையே அனுக்க்ஷனமும் எண்ணி வாழமுடியுமா?", என்று வினவுகிறார்.

 Sita could have killed him just be her looks, anger and her devotion towards Lord Rama. Such was her power and purity in heart and soul. But she did not do so. All she tried was only to make Ravana realize his fault and surrender himself to Sri Rama. She placed both her body and soul as belongings of Rama and she just waited for Him.
