 இரு மிடறு பிடித்தேனோ செல்வப்பிள்ளையைப் போலே

மண்ணுக்குள் புதைந்திருந்த திருநாராயணபுரம் கோவிலை, அவ்வூரின் மக்கள் மற்றும் மன்னனின் உதவியுடன் மீட்டெடுத்து, அங்கு புதியதாய் ஒரு கோவிலைக் கட்டி, மூலவருக்கு மூன்று நாள் திருவாராதனம் செய்த  ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜரின் கனவில் தோன்றிய ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன், “உற்சவரான ராமப்ரியன் டெல்லி பாதுஷாவின் அரண்மனையில் உள்ளார். அவரை அழைத்து வருவாயாக!”, என்றார்.

ராமானுஜர், உற்சவரை மீட்க இரண்டு மாதங்கள் பயணம் செய்து, பாதுஷாவின் அரண்மனையை அடைந்தார். பாதுஷாவிடம் நடந்தவற்றைக் கூறி, தான் வந்ததற்க்கான காரணத்தையும் கூறினார். பாதுஷா, “ அவ்விக்ரகம் என் மகளிடம் உள்ளது. அவளுக்கு மிகவும் பிரியமான விக்ரகம். கொடுக்க விரும்ப மாட்டாள். நீங்கள் அவரை கூப்பிடுங்கள். அவர் உங்களுடன் வந்தால் கூட்டிக் கொண்டு செல்லுங்கள்.” – என்றார். இளவரசியின் அறைக்கு சென்ற ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜரும் பாதுஷாவும் அங்கு, இளவரசியின் படுக்கையில் செல்வநாராயணனின் விக்கிரகத்தைக் கண்டனர்.

“சாரங்கபாணி தளர் நடை நடவானோ.” என்று பெரியாழ்வார் ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ணனை அழைத்தது போல், ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜர், தன் இரு கைகளை விரித்து, “என் செல்வப்பிள்ளையே வாராய்!”- என கண்களில் நீர் பெருக அழைத்தார். ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜரின் குரலைக் கேட்டதும், ராமப்ரியன் உடனே தான் அணிந்திருந்த ஆபரணங்கள் ஜொலிக்க, சின்னஞ்சிறு   பாதங்களில் சலங்கை சிணுங்க, ஓடி வந்து ராமானுஜரின் மடியில் ஏறி அமர்ந்து தன் இரு பிஞ்சுக் கரங்களால் அவர் கழுத்தைக் கட்டிக் கொண்டார்.

பாதுஷாவின் அனுமதியுடன் பின், ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜர்  ராமப்ரியனை திருநாராயணபுரம் அழைத்து வந்தார். கோவிலில் அவரை நிறுவி, உர்ச்சவமூர்த்திக்குரிய உத்சவங்களை முன்னின்று நடத்தினார்.

திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், “செல்வப்பிள்ளை போல் இரு கைகளால்  ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜரின் கழுத்தை அன்புடன் அனைத்து பிடித்தேனோ?”  - என்று வினவுகிறார்.

In 1069 C.E., Swami Ramanuja left Srirangam and stayed in the Hoysala Kingdom for not less than 20 years as a result of the conflicts arising between Chola King and Sri Vaishnavam. During his stay, one night, in his dream Lord Thirunarayana appeared and said- "I am buried under an ant hill in Yadavagiri. Find me from the ground, install me in a temple."

Ramanuja took the help of the Hoysala king and retrived the idol of Tirunarayanan under an ant-hill. But, as the ancient temple was crumbled and covered with mud for years, he built a new temple for the Lord. Hoysala Bitti Deva, gave him one lakh varahas, of which 50,000 were used for construction of the temple. Bitti also stationed one of his officers in Melkote, to help the Acharya. With the temple being built and the Lord being placed as the main deity and idol, Swami Ramanujar performed thiruvaradhanam for Him for three days. While he was not able to find the utsava vigraha,, Thirunarayana appeared in his dream and told him "Our utsava murthi, Ramapriyar, is with the daughter of the Badshah at Delhi."

Ramanuja, therefore, left for Delhi. After two month long journey, he met the Badshah, blessed him and informed him that he came to know that the Badshah is having the Idol of Sri Ramapriyar and he wanted to take him back to Yadavadri as per the Lord’s command. After searching the whole palace, they came to know that Badshah's daughter was having the deity of Sri Ramapriyar.The king was surprised to hear this. The king replied-"She is very fond of the idol and I do not think she would agree to part with it. Call out the Lord's name and if the Lord comes to you on his own, you can take Him back."

Swami Ramanuja invited Him like Periyazhvar called to Krishna in his divine pasurams "sArngapANi thaLar nadai nadavAnO". ( “Oh! My Lord! My Chella piLLaay! Please come and sit on my lap!”)

On hearing the voice of Swami Ramanujar, Ramapriyar, who was on the Badshah's daughter's bed, with all His jewels blinging and anklets humming and crown shining, walked towards Ramanuja and sat in his lap. Ramanuja embraced Him and called Him "vArAy! en selvap piLLaiyE!" (Come, my dear child). Ramapriyar also embraced Ramanuja by wrapping His divine hands around his neck. From that day forward, He was called "selvap piLLai" and "yatirAja selvakumAra".

Ramanuja then returned to Yadavadri with Selva Pillai and installed Him in the temple and performed utsavams for Him.
