Thirukolur Penpillai Rahasyam - 10

முதலடியைப் பெற்றேனோ அகலிகையைப் போலே

 கௌதம மகரிஷி, "வந்தது தேவேந்திரனா இல்லை தன் கணவனா" என்று வேறுபாடு அறிய தவறிய தன் துணைவியார் அகலிகையை கல்லாய் மாற சாபமிட,  பின், தன் கோபம் தணிந்து, அகலிகை மீது தவறில்லை என்பதை உணர்ந்து, "ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் கல்லாய் மாறி தவமிருக்க, பகவான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன், ராமனாய் இப்பூலோகத்தில் அவதரித்து இவ்வழியே வரும் பொழுது, அவர் திருப்பாதம் உன் மீது பட, உன் சாபம் தீரும்!" என்றார். அகலிகையும் கல்லாய் மாறி ஸ்ரீ இராமனின் வருகைக்காக தவமிருக்க, கௌதம மகரிஷி அவ்விடம் விட்டு சென்றார்.

    ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் கழிந்தன! ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனும் ஸ்ரீ ராமனாய் அவதரித்தார். மகரிஷி விஷ்வாமித்ரருடன் மிதிலை சென்று கொண்டிருந்தனர் ஸ்ரீ இராமனும், லக்ஷ்மணனும். கௌதம மகரிஷியின் குடில் இருந்த இடத்தினை கடந்த பொழுது, ஸ்ரீ இராமனின் திருப்பாதம், கல்லாய் உருமாறிய அகலிகை மீது பட, அகலிகையும் சாபம் தீர்ந்து, புனிதத்துவம் பெற்று உருமாற, கௌதம மகரிஷி, மகரிஷி விஷ்வாமித்ரரின் வார்த்தைகளுக்கு இணங்கி, அகலிகையை தன்னுடன் அழைத்துச் சென்றார்.

    திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், "அகலிகை போல், ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனின் திருப்பாதம் தொடும் பாக்கியம் பெற்றேனோ?", என்று வினவுகிறார்.

“Mudhaladi” refers to “The Lord's divine feet”.

Gauthama Maharishi and his beautiful wife Ahalya stayed inside a forest in their Ashram. Ahalya’s beauty, charm, intelligence and her service to her husband were known to all! She is praised by even the gods and devas! Hearing about her great beauty, Lord Indra became smitten with her. Seeing her one fine day in the banks of a river, he fell for her beauty.

 When Gauthama maharishi went to the river to take a bath, Lord Indra, taking the form of Maharishi Gautama, approached Ahalya and she allowed herself to be used by him. But before Indra could leave, Gauthama maharishi came back and saw Indra disguised as him, along with his wife. Raged on the filthy act of Indra, he cursed Indra that he would lose his masculinity.

Turning towards his wife, raged Gautama Maharishi cursed Ahalya, "Turn into a stone and along with this ashram’s dust and ashes, stay here!”

On hearing the words of her husband, Ahalya fell on her husband’s feet and begged for mercy.

Maharishi, taking pity on his wife, said- “A curse given is given. You know that! Consider this as a penance to purify your soul. Perform penance for a thousand years, consuming air alone, chanting the names of Lord Sriman Narayana. Sriman Narayana will be born as Sri Rama and will be brought here by Sage Vishwamitra. By the touch of His divine feet, your curse will be removed and then you can join me".

Maharishi Gauthama then left the place.

After a thousand years, Rishi Vishwamitra was accompanied by Prince Sri Rama and Prince Lakshmana to Mithila, after the princes helped the rishis in finishing the yaga by killing demon Tataka in the forest. On their way, he brought them to Sage Gauthama's ashrama’s location which has now turned into dust. By the touch of Lord Rama's feet, Ahalya’s curse was relieved. Sage Vishwamitra then explained the story of Ahalya to Prince Rama and Prince Lakshmana. In the mean time, knowing that the time time has come, Sage Gauthama also came there and accepted his wife.
