கண்டு வந்தேன் என்றேனோ திருவடியைப் போலே

இங்கு “திருவடி” என்று திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள் அழைப்பது “சிறிய திருவடி”யான ஹனுமனை.

இந்தியாவின் பழம்பெரும் இதிகாசமான இராமாயணத்தில், ஸ்ரீ இராமனும் இலட்சுமணனும், இராவணனால் கடத்திச் செல்லப்பட்ட சீதையைத் தேடி காடு முழுதும் அலைந்தனர். சீதையைத் தேடி அலைந்த இராமனுக்கும், இலட்சுமணனுக்கும் கிஷ்கிந்தையின்  அரசனும், வானரர்களின் அரசனுமான சுக்கிரீவனின் நட்பு கிடைத்தது. இராமனுக்கு உதவி புரிய விரும்பிய சுக்ரீவன், நான்கு திசைகளிலும் வானர கூட்டங்களை அனுப்பி, சிதையின் இருப்பிடம் குறித்து அறிய அனுப்பினான்.

தெற்கு திசையில் தேடிச் செல்ல, ஹனுமான், ஜாம்பவான், நிலா மற்றும் சில வானரங்களை, அங்கதனின் தலைமையில் அனுப்பினான். ஒரு மாதத்திற்குள் அவர்கள் சீதையின் இருப்பிடம் குறித்து அறிந்து வர ஆணையிட்டான். கடல் தாண்டி சென்ற ஹனுமான், இலங்கை அடைந்து, அசோகவனத்தில் சிறைப் பிடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள சீதையைக் கண்டார். இராமன் தன்னிடம் கொடுத்த கணையாழியை சீதையிடம் வழங்கி, தான் இராமனின் தூதுவன் என்று அறிமுகப்படுத்திக் கொண்டார். சீதைக்கு நம்பிக்கையும், ஆறுதலும் கூறிய பின், சீதை கொடுத்த சூளாமணியை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு ஸ்ரீ இராமனிடம் வந்தார்.

ஹனுமானின் வரவை எதிர்நோக்கி காத்திருக்கும் ஸ்ரீ இராமனிடம், “"கண்டெனன், கற்பினுக் கணியையைக் கண்களால்" என்கிறார் ஹனுமான். “சீதையை” என்று தொடங்கி விட்டால் இராமன் சீதைக்கு என்ன நேர்ந்து விட்டதோ என்று பதைத்து விடுவாரோ என்று எண்ணி, இராமனுக்கு மணித்துளி மனவருத்தத்தையும் தான் அளிக்கக் கூடாதெனக் கருதியும், தன்சொல்லில் ஐயம் எழக்கூடாதெனக் கருதியும் ஹனுமான் “கண்டேன்” என ஆரம்பித்தார்.

ஹனுமானின் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு மனமகிழ்ந்த ஸ்ரீ இராமன், அவனை ஆரத்தழுவிக்கொண்டான்.

திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், “ஹனுமனைப் போல் பெருமானுக்கு தான் சேவை செய்து அவரை மனம் மகிழ செய்தேனா?” – என்று வினவுகிறார்.

Here, “Thiruvadi” refers to “Hanuman”.

In the great Indian Epic, Ramayana, when Rama and Lakshmana went in search of the abducted Sita, made friendship with King Sugriva and with the help of the monkey clan, they searched for Sita. Sugriva sent the monkeys in the four directions to find the place where Sita had been kept.

Knowing that Ravana is the one who abducted Sita, and guessing that there is a greater possibility for Sita to be taken across the ocean, to Sri Lanka, King Sugriva sent Hanuman, Jambavan and Nila towards South, under Angadha as their leader and gave them one month time to know the whereabouts of Sita. Knowing that Hanuman would be able to find Sita, Rama gave him a ring so that Sita would understand that Hanuman is a messenger from her Lord Rama.

Learning from Sambhati that Sita is imprisoned in Sri Lanka; Hanuman was selected by the monkey clan to leap across the ocean to meet with her. Meeting Sita in Lanka, Hanuman showed her the ring from Rama and delivered the message which Lord Rama wanted Hanuman to be delivered to Sita when he sees her, in order to make her feel better and stay confident.

Returning to Rama, he told Him that he had seen Sita ("drushTA maya sItA"). The phrase “Drushta Maya Sita” means “Saw I, Seetha”. Realizing that starting a sentence with “Sita…”, the ensuing gap of even those few seconds will be filled with anxiety for Rama. So, instead he mitigated the anxiety by saying “Saw I, Sita”. By doing this, beloved Hanuman relieved Lord Rama from the moments filled with only distraught and anxiety.  He also gave Rama the head ornament from Sita that She had given him. Seeing the ornament and hearing the message, Rama became very pleased and embraced Hanuman tightly.

காட்டுக்குப் போனேனோ பெருமாளைப் போலே

கைகேயி, கேகய நாட்டு மன்னர் அஸ்வபதியின் மகளும், தசரத மன்னனின் மூன்று மனைவிகளுள் இளையவர் ஆவார். அழகும், வீரமும், விவேகமும் ஒரு சேர உருவான பெண். பரதன் இவருடைய மகன் ஆவார். ஸ்ரீராமனிடம் அதிக அளவு அன்பும் பாசமும் கொண்டவர்.

தசரத சக்ரவர்த்தி, ராமனுக்கு முடிசூட்ட எண்ணம் கொண்டு, மந்திரிகளுடனான ஆலோசனை முடிந்து ராமனுக்கு முடிசூட்ட நாளும் குறிக்கப்பட்டது. இராமனுக்கு முடிசூட்டு விழா என்று முரசு முழங்கியது. நாடே விழாக்கோலம் கொண்டு மக்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியில் குதூகலித்தனர். எல்லோரையும் விட இச்செய்தியால் அதிகம் மகிழ்ந்தவர் கைகேயி. பெருமிதம் கொண்டார்.

ஆனால், சிலந்தி வலையில் சிக்கிய சிறு பூச்சியைப் போல், மந்தரை என்றொரு கூனி வீசிய வலையில் சிக்கிய கைகேயியின் மனமும் குணமும் முற்றிலுமாக மாறியது.  ராமனுக்கு நாளை முடிசூட்டப் போகும் கனவில் மகிழ்ந்திருந்த அரசன் தசரதன் இரவு கைகேயியைக் காண வந்தார். அலங்கோலமாய் அமர்ந்திருந்த கைகேயியின் நிலை கண்டு பதறினான். “என்ன ஆயிற்று?”- என்று கேட்ட மன்னனிடம், “எனக்கு தாங்கள் இரு வரம் தருவதாய் முன்பு வாக்களித்தீர். இன்று அதை நான் கேட்கின்றேன். ஒன்று, ராமனுக்குப் பதிலாக என் மகன் பரதனுக்குப் பட்டம் சூட்ட வேண்டும். இரண்டு, 14 வருடங்கள் ராமன் காட்டுக்குச் செல்ல வேண்டும்.”- என்றும் தசரதனிடம் இரண்டு வரங்களைக் கேட்டாள் கைகேயி. 

கைகேயி தன் முடிவில் உறுதியாய் நின்றாள். தசரதன் கொடுத்த வாக்கை மீற முடியாமல் தவித்தான். இரவெல்லாம் மன்றாடியும், தசரதனால் கைகேயியின் மனதை மாற்ற இயலவில்லை. வேறு வழியின்றி வரத்தை வழங்கினார். தாயிடம் ஆசீர்வாதம் வாங்க வந்த ஸ்ரீ இராமன், தன் தந்தை மற்றும் தாயின் நிலை கண்டு பதறி, நடந்ததை வினவ, கைகேயியும் நடந்தவற்றைக் கூறினாள்.

ஆழ்ந்த மௌனத்திற்கு பின், சற்றும் பதறாமல், ஸ்ரீ இராமன் “சரியம்மா! தம்பி பரதன் நாடாளட்டும். நான் கானகம் புறப்படுகிறேன்.”-என்று கூறி, தாயிடமும் தந்தையிடமும் ஆசீர்வாதம் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு தன் அறைக்கு சென்றார்.

திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், “தந்தையின் வார்த்தைக்கு மதிப்பு கொடுத்து, மறுப்பேதும் கூறாமல், வார்த்தையில், செயலில், இதயத்தில் தெளிவு காட்டி, ஸ்ரீ இராமன் காட்டிற்கு சென்றாரே, அதுபோல் ஒரு தெளிவை பெருமாளிடம் நான் கொண்டுள்ளேனா?” –என்று வினவுகிறார்.

King Dasaratha of Ayodhya decided to coronate Rama as the king and he informed to everyone in the court and the news spread all over the kingdom and people started to celebrate the occasion they were waiting for. With the approval of the sages and ministers of the court, he sets the date to crown Sri Rama.

When the message of Rama’s coronation was passed to Kaikeyi, Kaikeyi was delighted and as happy as she would have been if it was her own son, Bharata's coronation. But due to the ill advice of Mantara, Kaikeyi had a change of heart and demanded two boons from Dasaratha. Fuelled with envy and jealousy as a result of Mantara’s words, she asked that her son Bharatha be crowned as the king instead of Rama and that Rama be sent to the forest for 14 years. Hearing this, Dasharatha fell into a swoon and passed the night in a pitiable condition in Kaikeyi's palace.

The night before the coronation ceremony, Rama performed a vratam along with Sita and prayed to Lord Ranganatha. When Rama came to the palace of Kaikeyi to seek her blessings, he saw his father and mother Kaikeyi sitting devastated. When Rama asked for the reason, she told Him about the two boons and that it was a royal decree that He go to the forest. King Dasaratha’s promise has to be kept and he has to grant the boons Kaikeyi asked! Rama immediately accepted it and with great pleasure prepared to go to the forest.
