6. பிண விருந்திட்டேனோ கண்டாகர்ணனைப் போலே

   

  கண்டாகர்ணன், பூலோகத்தில் பிணங்களை உண்டு வாழ்பவன். தேவனாகவோ மனிதனாகவோ இல்லாவிடினும், மிகச் சிறந்த சிவ பக்தன். வேறு ஒரு தெய்வத்தின் திருநாமம் தவறுதலாய்க் கூட தன் காதுகளில் கேட்டு விடக்கூடாது என்பதற்காகவே தன் இரு காதுகளிலும் வெண்கல மணிகளைக் கட்டிகொண்ட அளவிற்கு தீவிர சிவ பக்தன்.  இதர தெய்வங்களின் திருநாமம் கேட்கும் நேரம் தன் தலையினை ஆட்டிக் கொள்வான். இதனாலயே கண்டாகர்ணன் என்றழைக்கப்பட்டான்.

        ஒரு நாள், கைலாயம் சென்ற கண்டாகர்ணன், சிவபெருமானை நோக்கி, "கைலாச நாதா! காற்றோடு காற்றாய் வாழ்ந்தாலும் உன்னை பிரிந்து இருக்கும் துயரம் மனதை கனக்கிறது. இப்பூவுலகம் விட்டு மோக்க்ஷம் வழங்கி அடியேனுக்கு உதவி புரிவீர்களாக!", என்று வேண்டி சிவபெருமானை சரணடைந்தான். கண்டாகர்ணனின் வேண்டுதலை பொறுமையுடன் கேட்ட விஷ்ணு வல்லபாவாகிய மகேஸ்வரன், "கண்டாகர்ணா! உன் கர்மவினை இது. கர்மப்பயனை முற்றிலுமாக நீக்கி முக்தி அளிக்கும் பொறுப்பு காக்கும் கடவுளான ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனிடம் மட்டுமே உள்ளது. என்னால் இயலாது. ஆனால், எம் பக்தனான நீ முக்தி வேண்டி வந்துள்ளதால், உனக்கு சம்மதம் என்றால் ஒரு வழி உள்ளது. கூறுகிறேன். கேளும். ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன், கிருஷ்ணாவதாரம் எடுத்துள்ளார். மகாவிஷ்ணுவிடம் ஒருமுறை அவருக்கு வரமளிக்கும் வாய்ப்பினை எனக்கு வழங்குமாறு வேண்டினேன். அதற்க்கு சம்மதித்த அவர், பூலோகத்தில் கிருஷ்ணனாய் அவதரிக்கும் போது கைலாயம் வந்து என்னிடம் வரத்தினை பெற்றுக்கொள்வதாய் வாக்களித்தார். கிருஷ்ணன் இங்கு வரும் பொழுது அவரை நீ வணங்கி வேண்டினால் நீ கேட்டது நிச்சயம் உனக்கு கிடக்கும். மறந்து விடாதே! அவர் திருநாமம் கிருஷ்ணன்!!", என்று கூறி கிருஷ்ணன் எவ்வாறிருப்பான் என்று அங்க அடையாளங்களையும் கூறினார்.

   சர்வேஸ்வரனிடம் முக்திக்கான வழியினை அறிந்து கொண்ட கண்டாகர்ணன், தன் நன்றியினை தெரிவித்துவிட்டு கைலாயம் வாசலில் வந்தமர்ந்தான். கிருஷ்ணன் வந்தால் தெரிந்துகொள்வதற்காக தன் காதுகளில் கட்டியிருந்த மணிகளை கழற்றி எறிந்தான். கிருஷ்ணன் என்ற நாமத்தையும் அவன் எவ்வாறிருப்பான் என்று சிவபெருமான் கூறிய அடையாளங்களுடன் கூடிய உருவத்தினை மனதில் பதியச் செய்தான். சதா சர்வகாலமும் இவ்விரண்டை மட்டுமே அவன் மனம் நினைத்துக் கொண்டு கைலாய வாசலில் கிருஷ்ணனின் வருகைக்காக காத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.

      கிருஷ்ணனும் ஒரு நாள் கைலாயம் வந்தார். தூரத்தில் வருவது கிருஷ்ணனே என்றறிந்தான் கண்டாகர்ணன். தன் நிலை எதுவாகினும், மனிதன், தான் உணவு உண்பதற்கு முன் தன் உணவினை தான் வணங்கும் தெய்வத்திற்கு படைத்த பின்னரே உண்ண வேண்டும் என்று சாஸ்திரங்கள் கூறுகின்றன. கண்டாகர்ணனோ பிணங்களை உண்ணுபவன்.  தன் அருகில் தவத்தில் இருந்த ரிஷி ஒருவரைக் கொன்றான். சிறிதும் தயக்கமோ கலக்கமோ இன்றி அவரின் உடலை நேரே கிருஷ்ணன் முன் சமர்ப்பித்து, "நீர் கிருஷ்ணன் என்பதை அறிவேன். கர்மவினை நீக்கி முக்தி அளிக்க உன்னால் மட்டுமே முடியும் என்று சிவபெருமான் கூறியுள்ளார். இந்த ரிஷியினை உனக்காகவே கொன்று கொண்டு வந்துள்ளேன். ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு எனக்கும் என் சகோதரனுக்கும் முக்தி அளிப்பாயாக கிருஷ்ணா!", என்று வேண்டினான். பக்தி நிறைந்த மனதுடன் தனக்கு படைக்கப்பட்ட பொருளைப் பார்க்காமல், பக்தியை மட்டுமே கண்ணன் கண்டான்! நேர்மையுடன் கிருஷ்ணனுக்காக இதை செய்துள்ளதால், கிருஷ்ணனும் மகிழ்ந்து அவன் வேண்டியது போல் கண்டாகர்ணனுக்கும் அவன் சகோதரனுக்கும் முக்தி வழங்கினார். கண்டாகர்ணன் கொன்ற ரிஷிக்கும் முக்தி வழங்கினார்.

        

       திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், "கடவுள், பக்தியை மட்டுமே காண்பார், சமர்பிக்கும் பொருளை அல்ல என்ற கண்டாகர்ணனுக்கு இருந்த சிறு ஞானம் கூட எனக்கில்லை. கண்டகர்ணனைப் போல் நேர்மையுடன் என்னால் புருஷோத்தமனை வணங்க இயலுமா??", என்று வினவுகிறார்.

Pina virunthitteno Kandakarnanai polae

Once there lived a spirit named Kandakarna who feed on dead bodies. Being an ardent devotee of Shiva, he ignored and teased other gods.  Even after being advised by Lord Shiva, he did not change his character and kept continuing to tease other gods and their followers. He went to the extension that he hung a bell on his ears to prevent him from hearing the names of other gods. Hence he was called KandaKarna (“Kanda” means “bell”, “Karnan” means “ears”).  Desire of attaining Moksha, he went to Kailash and prayed to Lord Shiva to help him.

            Lord Shiva said, "Kandakarna! Only Lord Narayana could do that! I am not responsible for that. But I can help you with the way to attain Moksha. Lord Narayana has appeared on earth as Sri Krishna now. Once I have asked Him to give me an opportunity to give Him a boon. He agreed and told me that He would come to Kailash and get the boon. So, he will definitely visit Kailash any day!! You wait in front of the gates of Kailash. I will tell you how will look. When He comes here, if you pray to Him, He will give you what you seek. Do remember his name and look." He also gave a description of Krishna's form to Kandakarnan so he would recognize Krishna easily.

Thanking Lord Shiva, Kandakarna sat in front of the gates of Kailash and waited for Krishna. Removing the bell from his ears in order to hear “Krishna” when someone calls him and keeping Krishna's image and name in his mind, he started waiting for His arrival.

After a long wait with hope, one fine day, he saw Krishna walking towards the gates of Kailash from distance and recognized Him right away. Vedas say that whatever a person eats according to his state, he should offer that to the Lord that he prays to, before eating it. Kandakarna is someone who feed on dead bodies! Remembering that, immediately, Kandakarna killed a Rishi who was nearby and placed the body in front of Krishna’s feet. Praying to Krishna he said "I have heard from my Lord Shiva that you are the one who is capable of giving moksha. Please accept my offering and give me and my brother moksha."

The Lord always looks at the devotion of the devotee and not what the devotee is offering him in terms of material or food and money, for he expects only divine devotion and surrender. Since Kandakarna had offered his devotion to Krishna with great sincerity, Krishna accepted the offering and granted him moksha. He also granted moksha to Kandakarna's brother and to the Rishi who was offered by Kandakarna to Krishna.

5. பிணம் எழுப்பி விட்டேனோ தொண்டைமானைப் போலே    

    மன்னன் தொண்டைமான். ஸ்ரீநிவாச பெருமாள் கலியுகத்தில் நிரந்தரமாய் தங்க ஏழுமலையில், "ஆனந்த நிலையம்" கோவில் கட்டிய மன்னன். ஸ்ரீநிவாச பெருமாள் தனது திருவிண்ணாழியையும் பாஞ்சன்ய சங்கையும் மன்னனிடம் கொடுத்து வைக்கும் அளவிற்கு திருமலை வாசனின் அன்பையும் நம்பிக்கையையும் பெற்றவர்.

        மன்னன் தொண்டைமான் ஆட்சி புரிந்த தொண்டை நாட்டில் கூர்மர் எனும் அந்தணர் வாழ்ந்து வந்தார். அவர், காசி சென்று கங்கையில் மூத்தோர் கடன் தீர்க்க வேண்டும் என்று எண்ணினார். ஆனால் அவரது எண்ணம் நிறைவேறும் முன் அவர் உயிர் உடல் விட்டு சென்றது. அவரது ஆசையினை நிறைவேற்ற அவர் மகன், கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மா விருப்பம் கொண்டான். தன் தந்தையின் ஆசையினை நிறைவேற்றவும், அவரது அஸ்தியினை கங்கையில் கரைக்கவும் எண்ணினான். நெடுந்தூர பயணம் என்பதால் தனது மனைவியையும் பிள்ளையையும் மன்னனின் நேரடி பாதுகாப்பில் விட்டுவிட்டு காசி நோக்கி புறப்பட்டான். மன்னன் தொண்டைமானோ, தனது பாதுகாவலர்களிடம் பொறுப்பை ஒப்படைத்தார்.

      மாதங்கள் சென்றன. நாட்டினை வழி நடத்துவதில் கவனத்தை செலுத்திய மன்னன், கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மாவின் குடும்பத்தைப் பற்றி நாளடைவில் மறந்தே போனார். மன்னர் விசாரிக்கவில்லையே என்று பாதுகாவலர்களும் அரசாங்க நிதியினை கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மாவின் குடும்பத்தாரிடம் ஒப்படைக்காமல் அவர்கள் பயன்பாட்டிற்கு உபயோகித்து கொண்டனர். விளைவு? பசியால் வாடி கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மாவின் மனைவியும் மகனும் இறந்து போனார்கள்.

       காசியில் இருந்து திரும்பிய கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மா, நேரே மன்னன் அரண்மனைக்குச் சென்றான். கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மாவை கண்ட பின் தான் மன்னருக்கு கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மாவின் குடும்பத்தினர் பற்றிய ஞாபகமே வந்தது. கடமை தவறியதை எண்ணி பதைபதைத்த மன்னர், நேரே அவர்கள் தங்க வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் இல்லத்திற்கு சென்றவர், கண் முன் அவர்கள் இறந்து கிடந்ததைக் கண்டு மனம் உடைந்தே போனார். தன்னை நம்பி வந்தவர்களை, தனது நேரடி பார்வையில் பாதுகாப்புடன் இருக்க வேண்டியவர்கள் இறந்து கிடப்பதைக் கண்டு செய்வதறியாது மனம் கலங்கி நின்றார். நேரே கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மாவிடம் சென்று,"கிருஷ்ணா, உன் குடும்பத்தினர் திருமலை சென்றுள்ளனர். கூடிய விரைவில் திரும்பிவிடுவர்!", என்றார். கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மாவும் மன்னனின் வார்த்தையினை நம்பி திருமலை நோக்கிச் செல்கிறான்.

      இதனிடையே, திருமலை கோவிலுக்குக்கும் அரண்மனைக்கும் இடையே இருக்கும் இரகசிய பாதை மூலம் நேரே ஸ்ரீனிவாசனைக் காணச் சென்றார். பெருமாளின் பாதங்களில் சரணமடைந்த மன்னன் தொண்டைமான், "திருமலை வாசா! நம்பி வந்தவர்களை கவனிக்காமல் கடமை தவறி விட்டேன்!! மேலும், இறந்து கிடப்பவர்கள் உன்னை காண வந்திருப்பதாய் பொய் உரைத்துள்ளேன்! நம்பி வந்தவனிடம் இனி என்ன கூறுவேன்? பழி சொல்லிற்கு ஆளானேன். உன்னை சரணடைந்த என்னைக் காப்பாற்று இல்லையென்றால் உன் பாதங்களின் கீழ் என்னுயிரை உன்னோடு சேர்த்து விடு! உன்னை நம்பி வந்துள்ளேன். எல்லாம் இனி உன் பொறுப்பு!",என்று வேண்டினார்.

         தன்னை நம்பி வந்த பக்தனை திருமலை வாசன் கைவிடுவதில்லையே! மன்னனின் நிலை கண்டு வருந்திய பெருமாள், தொண்டைமான் முன் தோன்றி,"மன்னர் தொண்டைமானே! கலக்கம் வேண்டாம். சந்நிதியில் உள்ள துளசி தீர்த்தத்தினை கிருஷ்ணனின் குடும்பத்தாரின் உடல்களின் மீது தெளிப்பாயாக. அவர்கள் உயிர் பெற்று எழுவர்.",என்று கூறி நல்லாசி வழங்கினார். மன்னர் தொண்டைமானும் அவ்வாறே செய்ய, இறந்தவர்கள் உயிர் பெற்று எழுந்தனர். மனம் மகிழ்ந்த தொண்டைமான், அங்கு வந்த கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மாவிடம் அவன் குடும்பத்தினரை ஒப்படைத்தார். மேலும் தன் மீது திருமலை வாசன் கொண்டுள்ள அன்பினை அறிய காரணமாய் இருந்த இந்நிகழ்விற்கு காரணமாய் இருந்த கிருஷ்ண ஷர்மா மற்றும் அவன் குடும்பத்தினருக்கு செல்வங்கள் பல அள்ளி வழங்கினார்.

      

    திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், "மன்னன் தொண்டைமான் போல் பெருமாளிடம் சரணடைந்தேனா இல்லை, அவர் பெற்றதைப் போல் ஸ்ரீநிவாசனின் அன்பையும் அருளையும் தான் பெற்றேனா?",என்று வினவுகிறார்.

            King Thondaiman, an ardent devotee of Lord Srinivasa built the temple, “Anandha Nilayam” in Thirumalai and made sure Lord Srinivasa stays forever in this world. The King is one of the foremost human soul who received love and trust of the Lord in such a way that, the Lord Himself left his conch and discus to the King and even forgot to take it back!

In the Kingdom of Thondai, while the King Thondaiman was ruling and the people were living a simple and peaceful life, a brahmin named Koorman lead a very simple and happy life with his family. He wished to perform the last rituals to his ancestors in Kasi, the spiritual place, in the banks of river Ganges, once he get to save some money for the long trip that will take months. But he died in his hometown out of illness.

            His son, Krishna Sharma, decided to fulfil his father's wish and also wished to have the ashes of his father immersed in River Ganges, for his father’s salvation. Out of safety for his wife and son and also considering the longness of the trip, he decided to leave them under the protection of the King. The next day, he brought his wife and children to King Thondaiman, explained about his trip and left his family under the King’s protection. He then left for Kasi with a satisfied heart, after receiving the King’s words of assurance and protection.

The king asked people under him to take care of Krishna Sharma's wife and son. He also made sure that the family got money every month for food and living expenses. Months passed. Involved in his daily duties, the king completely forgot about Krishna Sharma and his family. With no enquiries from the King, the workers did not take good care of the family and looted the money for their use and as a result, Krishna Sharma’s wife and son eventually died.

Days passed. Returning from Kasi, Krishna Sharma visited the King’s palace to ask for his family. Only after seeing Krishna Sharma walking towards him, the King remembered about him and his family! Terrified in realizing that he has forgotten his duties, he rushed to the house where they were requested to stay.  To worsen the situation further more, he found only the dead bodies of the wife and the son. Petrified and perplexed on what to say to Krishna Sharma, he returned to the court room where Krishna Sharma was waiting and told him that his family had gone to Thirumalai and will be returning sooner.

Trusting the words of the King like before, Krishna Sharma too left for Thirumalai. In the mean time, the King rushed to the temple taking the secret passage from his palace. Reaching the sanctum sanctorum, he fell on the Lord’s feet and prayed for help. “Oh Lord! I have failed in my duties and as a result, two lives are lying dead and the soul that trusted me and is on his way, looking for his family! What will I do? How will I tell him what has happened? Save me from this trouble and I will assure you that I will never repeat such mistakes ever. Save me from this trouble or take me too to your divine feet.”

Showering His divine grace on the king, the Lord told him to take some holy water from the sanctum sanctorum and sprinkle it on the dead bodies and they will come alive. The king did as advised and the family came back to life. He returned the family to Krishna Sharma along with wealth.

4.  தசமுகனைச் செற்றேனோ பிராட்டியைப் போலே

        தசமுகன், இராவணன். பிராட்டி, சீதாதேவி. இங்கு, "செற்றேனோ" என்னும் சொல்லிற்கு "கொன்றேனோ" என்று பொருள். இராவணனை சீதை வதம் செய்யவில்லை. இங்கு, சீதை இராவணனை கொன்றார் என்றால், ராவணனின் ஆணவத்தை, பேராண்மையை கொன்றார் என்று பொருள். மிதிலையின் இளவரசி. ஸ்ரீ ராமனின் துணைவியாய், ஸ்ரீ ராமனின் நிழலாய் வாழ அயோத்தி வந்தவர். ஸ்ரீ இராமனை பிரிய மனமில்லாமல், பதினான்கு ஆண்டுகள் மலரினும் மென்மையான பாதத்துடன் வனத்தில் வாழ முடிவெடுத்தவர். இராவணனின் அஹம்பாவம், பேராண்மை, தலைக்கணம் நிறைந்த பார்வையும் மனமும் வனத்தில் எளிய வாழ்வு வாழ்ந்த சீதையின் மேல் பட்டு, அவன் அழிவிற்கு விதையிட்டது. மிதிலையின் இளவரசியாக இருந்தபோதே கொடியிடையாள் என்று வர்ணிக்கப்பட்ட சீதாப்பிராட்டியார், இலங்கையில் சிறையில் வாடியபோது இன்னும் மெலிந்தார் என்றால், அவரின் துயரத்தை எவ்வார்த்தைகள் கொண்டு விளக்குவது?

       சீதாதேவி எண்ணியிருந்தால் இராவணனை அவரே வதம் செய்திருக்கலாம். அவரின் கோபக்கனலே இராவணனை பஸ்பமாகிவிடும். பிராட்டியின் புனிதத்தன்மை ஒன்று போதுமே இலங்கையை கடலின் ஆழத்திற்கு தள்ள! தேவியும் அடுத்த நொடி ஸ்ரீஇராமனுடன் வனத்தில் இருந்திருப்பார். அனுமனின் வாலில் வைக்கப்பட்ட தீ அவரைச் சுடாமல் பார்த்துக்கொள்ளச் செய்த சீதைக்கு இலங்கையை அழிக்க எவ்வளவு நேரம் ஆகியிருக்கும்? சிறைப்பட்டு அனுதினமும் கஷ்டப்பட்டிருக்க வேண்டாம்.  சீதையின் ராமபக்தி ஒன்றே உலகை பஸ்பமாகிவிடும் வல்லமை வாய்ந்தது என்றால் இராவணன் எம்மாத்திரம்!?  ஆனால், அவர் அச்செயல் புரியவில்லை. சீதாதேவியார், அனைத்து இன்னல்களையும் பொறுத்துக் கொண்டு, இராமனின் வருகைக்காக காத்திருந்தார். அனுக்க்ஷனமும் ஸ்ரீ இராமபிரானயே எண்ணிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.

       இராவணனின் உண்மை நிலையினை அவனுக்கு எடுத்துரைத்தார். ஆணவத்தின் உச்சத்தில் யோசிக்காமல் தவறுகள் புரிந்து கொண்டிருந்த இராவணனை ஸ்ரீஇராமனுடன் போர் புரிந்து மடியாமல் அவரிடம் சரணடையுமாறு கூறினார். இராவணனையும், ஹனுமனே கண்டு வியந்த இராவணனின் அரண்மனையையும் சீதாப் பிராட்டி ஒடிந்த புல்லினைப் போல் மதித்தார். சீதாதேவியை மயக்க இராவணன் குபேரனுக்கு இணையான தன் சொத்துக்களைப் பற்றிக் கூறி ஆசை வார்த்தைகள் காட்டிய போதும் அவர் அதை தூசினைப் போல் துச்சமெனக் கண்டார்.   சித்திரவதைகளை அனுபவித்துக் கொண்டு அனுக்க்ஷனமும் ஸ்ரீ ராமனை மட்டுமே எண்ணி வாழ்வது கூட சுகம் என்றார். அவ்வாறே சிறைவாசத்தை கழித்தார். தன் ஆன்மாவும் உடலும் ஸ்ரீராமனின் உடைமை என்பதை மனதில் நிறுத்தி அவர் வருகைக்காகவே காத்திருந்தார்.

            எளிமையின் வடிவாய் நின்ற ஸ்ரீ இராமனின் முன் லங்காபுரியின் மன்னனான இராவணன் தோற்றான். சீதையின் மனம், சரணாகதிக்கு சிறந்த எடுத்துக்காட்டென்றால், சீதையின் மனதை வென்ற ஸ்ரீ இராமனின் பண்போ, இன்னலில் தவிக்கும் பக்தர்களை ரட்சிக்க துடிக்கும் கடவுளின் குணம். இறையன்பு.

       திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், "என்னால் பிராட்டியைப் போல் அனைத்தையும் அவன் பொறுப்பில் விட்டு விட்டு, அவனையே அனுக்க்ஷனமும் எண்ணி வாழமுடியுமா?", என்று வினவுகிறார்.

Dasa mugan is Ravana. PirAtti is Sita. The word “setRRal” refers to “destroy”.

            Princess of Mithila, charming Sita, after marrying Lord Rama, came to Ayodhya with full of love, dreams and hope. With her heart full of Lord Rama and her services for him, she even decided to follow her beloved Lord Rama to the forest for 12 years, ignoring all the pleasures of living life in a palace as a queen. Such is her love for Lord Rama.

After being abducted by the King of Lanka, Ravana, she lived her life thinking only about Lord Rama. She looked down upon Ravana and his wealth. She was willing to stay imprisoned and suffer the torture rather than agree to his advances.

 Sita could have killed him just be her looks, anger and her devotion towards Lord Rama. Such was her power and purity in heart and soul. But she did not do so. All she tried was only to make Ravana realize his fault and surrender himself to Sri Rama. She placed both her body and soul as belongings of Rama and she just waited for Him.

   Thirukkolur Ammal is asking "Can I be like Piratti and live in peace, placing everything completely in His hands?"
